How it Works

A custom gown can feel like a big leap, but the process is simpler than you'd think. From your first sketch to your final fitting, here's exactly what happens and when.

Why Custom?

Because "almost" isn't good enough.
You've tried on gowns that were close, just not quite right. If you're going to invest in something this meaningful, it should be exactly what you want.

Because it costs less than you'd think.
A custom gown can cost more upfront, but by the time you've bought off the rack and paid for alterations, the difference is often smaller than you'd expect. Why not love it from the start?

Because what you want doesn't exist yet.
Maybe you've looked everywhere and haven't found it. You have high standards and a point of view of your own, and a store can only offer what someone else already imagined.

Because you want to know who made it.
Your gown isn't mass-produced overseas. You'll know exactly where it was made and who made it, because you'll have met me.

Because it fits your body, not a size chart. Off-the-rack sizing is built for an average that doesn't exist. Yours is built for you.

The Process

From first conversation to final fitting, here's what making your gown looks like.

Discovery

It starts with your application. If it feels like a good match, we'll set up a phone call to talk through your vision, your event, and how we'd work together. This is as much for you as it is for me. A custom gown is a real collaboration, and we should both feel excited about it.

If we're a fit, a deposit reserves your 2027 spot. Then the fun part begins: start gathering anything that inspires you.

Design

I'll sketch initial designs based on everything you've shared, and we'll refine them together until it feels unmistakably like you. We'll choose fabrics, and you'll get a measuring kit in the mail. If you're local, we'll book a measuring appointment instead.

Your gown is built entirely around your measurements, so this step matters more than any other. Precise measurements now mean a better fit later.

Creation

Now your gown goes into production. When it's about 85% finished, you'll have your first fitting so we can catch any major fit issues while there's still room to adjust.

Bring the shoes you'll be wearing. Your hem (and bustle, if you need one) is set to those exact shoes, so they need to be chosen by this point. Think of it as the tailoring appointment you'd have with an off-the-rack gown, except it's already built into the process.

I'll make the final adjustments, and then you'll have your final fitting.

Celebrate

Accessorize, get ready, and step into a gown that was made for you and only you. That’s a one of one, baby!

Dance, laugh, take a thousand photos, and enjoy every minute. You'll have the best day!

And when it's over, I'd love to see how it all came together. Send me your favorite photos.

Anna’s Dress

When Anna came to me she had already tried on at least 40 dresses. She liked pieces of a lot of them, but just could not say “yes!” to any of them.

We ended up making her two different looks. One, more formal with a long train, for her ceremony; and then pop off the skirt and she had a playful, sexy dress for the dancefloor!

  • "When I was wedding dress shopping, I was having a hard time finding anything that I liked. I'm so happy that I worked with Maddie to create a custom wedding gown. The process was so fun and seamless and Maddie is a joy to work with. I am so thrilled with how the dress turned out and cannot imagine having gotten married in any other dress."
